Design Challenge 2: Trash Transformation

Design Assignment
The competition challenges designers to develop models/samples of marketable products (made from discarded materials) that urban poor people’s organizations like SHEC in Malibay, Pasay can replicate, creating opportunities for income-generating recycling by its members. Designers should present a series of three product designs using the same set of discarded materials (as raw materials for production).
Judging Criteria
Criterion # 1: The designs should be innovative examples of extending the lifecycle of discarded materials
Criterion # 2: The designed products should be creative and functional.
Criterion # 3: The designed products should help establish income-generating waste management activities for the community. Designers must consider the level of expertise and tools/equipment required to create the product and the overall marketability of the product.
Submission Requirement
Each entry submitted should contain the following:
- Completed Submission Form placed in an opaque, white envelope and affixed at the back of the presentation board
- Presentation board, 30″x40″ oriented vertically and with the following format:
